Even though I do not approve of Crowley and his addictions and perversions he did have it right, we can, through ritual, which is just a spiritual or mystical practice aimed at causing change in accordance with our will, your subconscious is the autopilot. It operates even though you are not aware of it, and when you focus on an intention strongly enough your subconscious mind communicates with your conscious mind causing you to recognize opportunities your brain would otherwise filter out because your conscious mind is just that, a filter that only recognizes what you need to function in this conscious energy field we interpret as existence.
Any neuroscientist will tell you that you can reprogram your brain, it is called cognitive behavioral therapy, which was taken from the shamanic philosophy of Wheels. A member of the tribe would go to the shaman with an upsetting experience and the shaman would help them reframe the experience. A young person may be upset, and the shaman would simply tell them, you are upset now but look at what you have learned from the experience, helping them resolve the conflict by looking at it as a learning experience rather than an upsetting obstacle.

Listen for yourself. Personally, I have a lot of chronic pain and migraines from abusing (work injuries) my body for many years.
